BeeKeeper Hub — Smarter Beekeeping, From Hive to Harvest

BeeKeeper Hub helps beekeepers run their apiaries with a connected beehive scale and a single app that follows them from the first spring inspection to the honey harvest. A scale under each hive measures weight and temperature around the clock; the app turns that data into a live picture of every colony — and tells the beekeeper when something needs attention.

How It Works

Each hive sits on a connected scale that wakes up several times a day, weighs the hive, reads the temperature, and sends the reading to the cloud over Wi-Fi. From the moment a reading arrives, the beekeeper sees it across their web and phone apps within seconds.

  1. The scale measures — weight (to within ~0.5 kg), hive temperature, and battery level.
  2. The reading travels to the cloud and is stored against the right hive and apiary.
  3. The app reacts — live charts update, anomalies and possible swarms are flagged, and a push notification can be sent if something matters.
  4. The beekeeper decides — open the hive, log an inspection, plan a harvest, or do nothing because all is well.

The scale is paired once with the phone over Bluetooth, calibrated, and left alone — a charge lasts on the order of half a year. After that, it simply works.

What a Beekeeper Gets

Always-On Hive Monitoring

Every apiary and every hive, on one screen — with live weight, battery, and signal status so you know both how the colony is doing and whether your hardware is healthy.

Weight Analytics That Tell a Story

A rich weight chart lets you zoom across hours, days, or a whole season, compare several hives side by side, and spot the trends that matter — a steady climb during a nectar flow, a sudden drop that can mean a swarm has left, or a flat line that says the colony needs feeding. Readings stream in live.

A Digital Inspection Log

Every visit to the apiary can be logged in seconds — which hives you checked, what you saw, whether you fed, treated, or harvested, plus the weather at the time. Add photos and video straight from the field. The full history stays searchable per hive, so you can look back across the season.

Alerts & Smart Reminders

Instead of constantly checking, the beekeeper is notified when it counts: a possible swarm, an unusual weight change, a low battery, or a device going offline. On top of that, smart reminders draw on the inspection log to nudge the right action at the right time — queen checks, feeding, treatments, harvest windows — each of which can be turned on or off per category.

AI Predictions & Advice

Each beekeeper gets a personalized, per-apiary advisory in their own language — daily guidance generated by AI that combines the hive's weight trend, the local weather, and the time of season into plain-language recommendations: is a nectar flow building, is a swarm likely, when should you inspect, when is it safe to harvest. It's guidance, not guesswork.

Weather & Beekeeping Calendar

Local current conditions and forecasts are built in, alongside a seasonal calendar of flower blooms and harvest windows, so decisions are made with the forage and the forecast in mind.

More Than a Single Beekeeper — Societies

Beekeeping is a community, and BeeKeeper Hub reflects that. The platform includes beekeeping societies (čeblarska društvo): members get a shared hub with posts, events and RSVPs, shared documents, and a feed to keep everyone in touch. Societies can even pool their apiary data to see collective statistics — a powerful way for a club to learn from each other across the whole region. There's a public directory, invitations, member roles, and everything a local society needs to coordinate, all in the same app the members already use for their hives.

Available Everywhere You Keep Bees

  • On the web — a full management console for the desk and the laptop, in the apiary or at home.
  • On Android — a field companion that pairs with the scale over Bluetooth, works offline and syncs later, captures photos and video on the log, sends push notifications, and even ships firmware updates to the scale over the air.

The whole interface is fully translated into English, Slovenian, German, and Croatian, with the app following the beekeeper's language everywhere — including the AI advice and the email reminders.

A Real Product, Built End-to-End

BeeKeeper Hub is a single-solo-built product running live in production: the connected scale and its custom circuit board, the firmware that runs it for months on a charge, the cloud service behind it, the web app, and the Android app. Real devices are out in the field, reporting real data.

What's Next

The platform keeps growing. On the roadmap:

  • Dispenser devices — feeding and treatment hardware that extends the same connected approach beyond weighing, so more of the routine work around the hive can be monitored and automated.
  • CRM & order management — tools for beekeepers who sell honey and beekeeping supplies, tying customer relationships and orders into the same place they already run their operation.
  • A marketplace for local beekeepers — a vision worth exploring: let beekeepers list and sell their honey directly to nearby customers. Open question: whether to take a small commission on sales, offer the feature to premium subscribers, or run a small subscription. Before building, this needs a proper legal opinion on marketplace/payment-intermediary rules — and if it ships, real advertising to match.
